I have a small confession to make. I think I may be obsessed. On Tuesday I posted about a book I'd finished reading, "The Burning Bridge" (Book 2 in the Ranger's Apprentice Series) by John Flanagan. Well, now here it is Thursday and I've finished the next two books in the series. Yes, I said two. That's two books in just about 24 hours and I'm not even on vacation!
I am a pretty fast reader, and I did spend yesterday lounging around because I didn't feel very good, so I got a fair amount of reading in then. And these books are written for young adults so they aren't super long or tough to read, but none of those are really the reason why I can now blog about two books. Nope, not it at all.
It all boils down to one thing: obsession. I am completely and utterly drawn into these books! I love the characters and the adventures they have and I love the mixture of danger and humor. I pretty much love everything about these books. I am currently trying to figure out how to get down to the library today in order to get the next one in the series, but then there is a fear in the back of my mind that the next one isn't there!
I am not quite sure what I'll do if it isn't. I will need to exercise great patience if that's the case! But in all seriousness, these are some great books. Just pure quality entertainment that I would encourage my kids (and yours') to read. I know there are a ton of young adult books out there--I don't read a ton but I've read my fair share, and these are definitely some of the best.
Oh and a side note: I just went onto Amazon to figure out the titles of the next ones in the series so I could reserve them at the library and some of the titles scare me. If we lose any of these characters that I've come to love I'm not going to be a happy reader.
Yay! Aren't they just the best new YA series out there?! I love them! And they are definitely quick reads -- take me about three to four hours depending on the length. I can't wait till I can dig into the Lost Tales! Yay!
