Folded Box Tutorial

I originally found this idea in a Creating Keepsakes magazine from several years ago. I can't find it now on their website. It's really easy and you can use just about any size paper, depending on what size box you want to end up with. I cut a 12x12 paper into fourths and made tiny boxes the other day for some earrings. All that matters is that you have one paper about 1/2 an inch smaller than the other paper. I've found that regular scrapbooking paper, as opposed to cardstock, works better.

So for this tutorial I have a 12x12 paper and a 11.5x11.5 paper.

Start by folding the paper in half one way.

Unfold it and fold the other way. Make sure to crease the folds well before unfolding.

Now with the design you want to show facing down, fold the corners into the fold creases you made.

Until it looks like this.

Then fold the sides into the middle.

And then the top and bottom into the middle.

Now, unfold the last few folds you made until you get it looking like this. With the corners of the top and bottom unfolded.

Now, you going to fold the corners labeled "A" into the spot labeled "B".

It should look something like this. Then fold the point down into the box.

To look like this.

Do the same with the other side and you'll end up with this.

Make a bottom, put them together, tie on a ribbon and a label and you have a cute, easy, inexpensive box for a gift!

  2. Great idea, Kendra! I like having little boxes for stuff. They'd be great for the candy treats I plan on making for neighbors this year
