It's been warm and sunny here the last couple of days and it's been wonderful! It's like a breath of fresh air after all the cold & snow & grey of winter. I am always surprised by the signs of spring, even though they probably come around the same time every year. Today Kera and I noticed that my crocuses are starting to come up and bloom. I was going to take a picture during the day when they were wide open and soaking up the sun, but I didn't remember until this evening. They are closed and not as spectacular looking, but you can still see the color, so you get the idea.
I know I said I was going to fill in more on the Vegas trip and post some pictures, I don't have a ton of time, but here's a glimpse at least of our week....
Here is Crystal with the plate of appetizers we ordered one day while out shopping. We had no idea it would be this big!! Its funny because the after picture wouldn't have been much different looking than this, the plate was still piled high after we'd had our fill!
We actually only walked along the strip one day and it was enough for us. It was kind of a fiasco trying to use the Strip Shuttle and our hotel didn't have one, so after catching a cab ride home at the end of a day full of walking, we were content to mostly stay close to our hotel. The great part was that there was a decent casino right next door (South Point) and it had a couple different places to eat, movie theatre, bowling and, of course, gambling, so there was plenty to do in our neck of the woods.
We did one show while there and it was the "Tournament of Kings" at the Excalibur. I had seen it once before long ago, but it was very well done. The guys were really excited about the whole "eat with your hands" aspect of it. It was quite funny.
Most of the time we were there the guys, Erik & Rich, rode their atv's at one of the three areas near there, which left Crystal and I to do our own thing. We worked out, walked, watched tv (gotta love cable), scrapbooked one day and did a whole lot of shopping. We didn't buy a lot, but we did a whole lot of looking & walking. I think we successfully visited almost four shopping areas. :-) It was good, though. The food was all good -- a GREAT oyster bar in the casino next door-- and we got a lot of time just to relax, which is really what a vacation is all about, right? I would say the only downfall or, BIG downfall,( because there were little stresses here and there, mostly due to four people being around each other for that long of a time frame but that was to be expected) was definitely the long drive. Its dreadfully long and we had snowy/icy roads on a huge portion on the way down and a small but scary portion on the way home which leads me to conclude that winter driving stinks. lol
I'm having a hard time posting pictures right now so I will try to share them later! :-)
Sounds like a lot of fun, especially once you threw in the scrapbooking! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...I would NEVER drive to Vegas, in the winter, probably not in the summer! We drove three times to Pennsylvania--27 hours each way. The last two trips, we had two dogs with us! That's why I'm saving all my frequent flyer miles on my Visa! We had a horrible time every trip, if the road were good going there, they would be bad coming back. Although I've found with books on tape, I don't mind driving as much, but Robert would rather beat his head off the stering wheel than listen to the fastinating history of Krackatow--a huge volcano in Indonesia. Go figure? Sounds like fun with your friends though. I've been to Vegas three times and that's enough for me, although I never thought to bring my scrapbooking! (ok, so I haven't started scrapbooking yet, but I really want to. I have boxes of pictures I need to get organized!)
