Being Emotional, 101

A dear friend dropped by today while I was vacuuming & packing for our week up at the lake. She is the one person I know that really does just "drop by" whenever, and I am not sure how she does it, but I'm almost always home and ready to see someone. Because, as a stay-at-home mom, sometimes things like changing from PJ's into clothes and/or taking a shower just don't happen first thing in the morning, or, at all. Anyway, she stopped by today to drop off a little goodie bag for me. Inside was this:
That is, a cute little bag full of Tazo Zen Green Tea from Starbucks (my favorite drink du jour), freshly made shortbread and a heart warming card. I promptly ate one of the shortbread while I read the card and then I cried a little.
Why cry? Well, because for once in my life I'm somewhat in touch with my feelings. I'd have to admit to being quasi emotional. (For years now I've been what you'd call a "stuffer" until recently I was so stuffed that everything came bursting out. I'm now working really hard on not stuffing my feelings, both good & bad, to try and prevent any future explosions.) So, when an emotional person reads a touching card that talks about what a great friendship you have and how it is a blessing from God, you can't help but get a little teary.
So, thanks Jess. You really are too sweet. I'm really grateful for you and the rest of the gals in our group, too! You all have been there for me more times than I can count. Yay for God putting us all together! :-)
And, since no blog entry would be complete without some anecdote about one of the kids, here's what Kera was doing while I was opening my goodie bag. I let her listen to my MP3 the other day and so when it was sitting on the counter (again, cuz I'm packing) she wanted to listen. She only listens for a moment or too, maybe a whole song, but while she's listening she gets this attentive look on her face, its really cute.

  1. Love you girl. And I really do love this new site - I especially love that I don't have to log in to read it!
